I am Roslyn Grafstein, and I am asking for your support in my run for city council this November. I am a community advocate, volunteer, wife, and mother dedicated to Madison Heights.
My husband, Scott McGuire, and I have lived in Madison Heights for 13 years.
I graduated from York University with a degree in Economics and later earned both the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designations. I worked for over ten years in financial services and through careful planning was able to transition to full-time parenting and community advocacy. I firmly believe my professional expertise and community involvement can be combined to enhance our city.
Serving the public and connecting with people in Madison Heights is important to me. I know everyone on my block and have a long history of service to the community. Giving isn’t just about writing a check – it is about rolling up your sleeves and lending a helping hand. In 2010, I worked on a team to petition the city to allow domestic hens, resulting in an amendment to the animal control ordinance. In 2016, I was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Board, and with the board’s help I am hoping to revitalize our parks and increase resident participation within the city. I am also a Girl Scout leader, robotics team coach, school room parent, and a member of the Madison Heights Women’s Club.
Scott and I are the proud parents of two daughters who attend school in Madison Heights. We have chosen to live and raise our family here because of its charm, affordability, location, safety, and friendly neighborhoods. Our family enjoys going for bike rides, rock climbing at Planet Rock, and walking the trails of the Madison Heights Nature Center.
I consider one of my primary responsibilities as your future Councilwoman to be my availability to Madison Heights citizens, so we can work together to do what is necessary to maintain and improve the city for everyone who lives and works here.
